HMRC update on obtaining copy tax calculations for mortgage lending purposes

HMRC have confirmed that they will no longer be issuing paper copies of the tax calculations (SA302) directly to agents from the 4 September 2017.

HMRC have received a number of requests from agents for a paper copy of their client’s tax calculation and/or tax year overview because lenders have refused to accept the self-serve copy printed from the HMRC online account or the commercial software used to file a self-assessment tax return (or because the commercial software does not print this).

HMRC have, therefore, been working with the Council of Mortgage Lenders and their members to ensure lenders will accept self-served copies and all lenders who have agreed to do so have been included on a published list available on gov.uk, see Mortgage providers and lenders who accept a SA302 tax calculation and a tax year overview.

HMRC have also been working with commercial software companies to ensure their software offers a print facility.
